Tortuga Bay offers private white sand beaches for
guests
staying in one of their 15 beautiful villas.
View of the second story of a 3-bedroom Tortuga Bay villa.
This 3-bedroom villa consists of a common central zone including
a small kitchen area,
large living room and patio running the length of the
unit on the ocean side.
Each
downstairs bedroom, opposite sides of the
common area, features vaulted ceiling, large walk-in closet, spacious bathroom
with Jacuzzi tub and glass-enclosed shower
and a bedroom with separate doorway to the
patio. Upstairs, over the
common
area, is the third bedroom with its own patio
area.
The villas feature Oscar de la Renta interiors. The large
scale spaces
feel very
natural and comfortable through sensitive use of intelligent proportions,
fabrics and appointments. Whether enjoying a quiet evening with
a
friend or
hosting a special party it all works to grand effect.
After a long travel day, including three flights and one
five-hour layover, we
were most appreciative of the beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious
welcome offering from the Tortuga Bay kitchen. This little detail set the
tone for an outstanding
experience
which went far beyond even our elevated expectations.
More and more guests will find direct connections from U.S. and European
airports
to Punta Cana International Airport which they claim is the world's only
privately
owned international airport. Tortuga Bay guests receive the VIP
airport
treatment
made possible by owning their own airport. A
representative greets you
to make quick and easy work of customs, then a waiting
shuttle takes you for
an eight-minute drive to Tortuga Bay. Guests arriving
on their own plane
enter
through a special terminal for even greater privacy.
Small touches create large impressions as exemplified by
this
tasteful coat rack outside the villa entry.
This is a view from a third floor unit at the adjacent
Puntacana
Resort & Club. The word stunning feels appropriate.
During our short Tortuga Bay visit I took advantage of the
kayaks to enjoy the
views
and for some needed exercise to compensate for
the grand
dining
experiences we enjoyed every day of our stay. I spotted
lovely shells,
fish and plants below the surface of the crystal clear water.
From the Marina on the
north to the exclusive Corales residential area to
the south, Puntacana offers
miles of stunning shoreline and beaches to explore.
Tortuga Bay has its own private pool and Jacuzzi
(some villas also
feature a patio Jacuzzi). Across from the pool is the bar
staffed by the
friendliest servers you can imagine. Guests may also take advantage of the
many facilities at the nearby Puntacana Resort just a short golf cart ride
away.
By the way, your villa comes with a golf cart convenient for short trips to
the spa, clubhouse, tennis courts and the Puntacana resort. Shuttles are also
just
a call away
if you wish to leave the driving to someone else.
Puntacana is very proud of its own school which is attended
by the staff’s children.
They have begun introducing bilingual education so
that these youngsters will be
prepared for career paths often unattainable
without the all-important language skills. Tuition is on
a sliding scale depending upon the
parent’s salary. This means the houskeeping’s children attend school
alongside the director’s grandchildren. This is
just one
example of the vision
and caring of the Puntacana founders and developers.
Frank Rainieri is the very active co-founder and developer
of Puntacana.
His vision for developing Puntacana as not only a first-class
resort but also
a sustainable, responsible community, serves as an inspiration
to his staff,
guests and country. Watching Frank comfortably and considerately
interact
with all he comes in contact with, from world-famous celebrity
guests
to staff, helps us realize that his touch is profound and effective.
Carlos De Freitas is the gracious General Manager. His
charm
and attention to details are a large part of Tortuga Bay’s soothing magic.
